Hello Families!
Many interesting things are going on in our classroom! Here are a few things that are happening:
-Reading Workshop: The students are continuing to read independently for 30 minutes! This is a wonderful time of day—the classroom is calm and filled with busy readers. This week the students are working on “warming up their brains for reading.” Just as an athlete warms up before an event, readers get ready to read by saying the title of the book, looking for clues on the cover, and taking a peek inside the book at any pictures.
-Writing Workshop: The students are working on writing true stories about themselves. Try helping your child brain-storm some interesting writing ideas at home this week.
-This week we are studying WELCOMING. We are discussing welcoming situations and then reviewing all of the CREW components. The students are doing a great job working with these concepts and demonstrate them often.
-Next week Mrs. Dahlin and I are launching our first expedition of the school year! More on this next week . . .
-Math Night is coming up on October 21st. It will last from 6:00-7:30. Your child is welcome to attend (they will be showing you some math activities).
